Two days ago, I was merrily adding books to my Cybook with Calibre on Ubuntu, when I got an error message saying that the file system was read-only. Tried running Win XP on Virtualbox, didnt detect it either.Īnyone have any other ideas? I'm grateful for any help. Tried it on 2 different computers, it works fine. Checked if it appears in device manager or disk manager, it doesn't. Other USB sticks and hard drives work fine. Reinstalled USB drives, and mass storage drivers. Disabled sleep and power saving for USB ports. What I have done so far: Tried all the different USB ports, it just charges the device. It works just fine on both my old Win XP laptop and my brothers Win XP laptop. I just got a new computer and when I plug the device in it just starts charging, but I cant get it to detect the device. What am I to do now? I have been using a Gen3 since 2009 without issue. The device is new, just came in the mail, turned on after being connected to the charger, and got stuck on wifi screen when I got to setting it up. Tried to reboot using- long press on power button- no change, hold menu, press power button- no change, press both left and right buttons and press power- no change. When connected to computer Cybook drive shows up, I can see the contents of cybook, can add or delete files or folders. If, however, the lock is in software, I may be able to circumvent it if I have access to the source code. Chances are the lock is located in the bootloader, in which case I'm screwed.
